Module 1: Building in Public - The Twitter Growth Strategy

The Power of Building in Public

Building in public has made a huge difference in my business. I grew my Twitter account from about 100-200 followers to nearly 4,000. The change has been amazing.

Twitter has become one of our best ways to:

  • Generate high-quality leads
  • Help people in the community
  • Connect with others in our space

The difference between building in public and not doing so is night and day. It's so much easier to get quality clients when you share your work openly.

Benefits of Social Media Feedback

Social media gives you quick feedback from two important groups:

  • Direct feedback from clients
  • Helpful input from other founders

This feedback loop is super valuable when you're not sure if you're on the right track. You can ask questions and get useful answers from others in your field.

A Better Approach to Product Building

Looking back, I would change how I launched products:

Old way (not recommended):

  • Build something for months without an audience
  • Launch to silence
  • Wonder what went wrong

Better way:

  • Talk to people first
  • Understand the community
  • Find out what problems people have
  • Build solutions for specific groups

When you see patterns in what people need, you can create products that solve real problems.

Finding and Promoting Great Products

My approach on Twitter is authentic - I look for products that:

  • Already work well
  • I personally use
  • Deserve more attention than they're getting

When I find something truly valuable that isn't well-known, I feel it's important to share it. Great products should reach the people who need them.

Example: Overlooked Tools

Many excellent tools don't get the visibility they deserve. For instance:

  • Block to Pin: Converts blog posts into Pinterest pins using AI
  • Clip Wing: Helps YouTube creators repurpose content for TikTok

These tools can be game-changers, but they often don't get the same traffic as big names like Canva.

Building in public isn't random promotion - it's about thoughtful content that truly helps your audience find solutions they might have missed.
