12 Startups in 12 Months

The concept of building 12 startups in 12 months is an ambitious and innovative approach to learning and entrepreneurship. The idea is to create a new startup each month, focusing on rapid development and learning through doing.

I started doing a project called twelve Startups in twelve Months.

Key Points:

  • Initial Experience: The journey began with a background in creating websites for a YouTube channel called Panda Mix Show, which featured electronic music mixes. This experience provided a foundation in basic web development.

  • First Startup: The first project was "Play My Inbox," an app designed to organize music links shared via email. It accessed Gmail to extract YouTube links and created a gallery of songs, similar to a personalized Spotify.

  • Challenges: One of the main challenges was deciding what features to include within the limited timeframe. The focus was on building essential components like a landing page and a basic product that users could pay for.

  • Learning and Adaptation: The process involved learning coding and development skills on the go. The strict one-month timeline encouraged a scrappy approach, focusing on what could be built quickly.

  • Marketing and Exposure: Sharing the projects on platforms like Hacker News provided accountability and exposure. The challenge was to promote the startups without appearing spammy, often by addressing specific problems within communities.

  • Monetization: Integrating payment systems like Stripe was crucial, although some projects, like "Play My Inbox," did not initially include a payment option.

12 Startups in 12 Months

This approach to startup creation emphasizes learning through rapid iteration and adapting to challenges, making it a unique and effective way to develop entrepreneurial skills.
