Cortisol
Cortisol is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands. It is often released in response to stress and low blood-glucose concentration. It plays a role in various bodily functions, including metabolism and the immune response.
Adrenaline
Adrenaline, also known as epinephrine, is a hormone and neurotransmitter that is produced by the adrenal glands. It is part of the body's acute stress response system, often referred to as the 'fight or flight' response. It increases heart rate, muscle strength, blood pressure, and sugar metabolism.
Fight or Flight Response
The fight or flight response is a physiological reaction that occurs in response to a perceived harmful event, attack, or threat to survival. It is characterized by the release of adrenaline and cortisol, preparing the body to either fight the threat or flee from it.
Diaphragmatic Breathing
Diaphragmatic breathing, also known as deep breathing or belly breathing, involves fully engaging the stomach, abdominal muscles, and diaphragm when breathing. This type of breathing is often used in relaxation techniques and stress management strategies.
