How to Use the Hunter Tire Changer

To operate the Hunter tire changer, follow these steps:

  1. Position the Vehicle: Ensure the vehicle is securely positioned on the lift. Engage the parking brake and lock the wheels.

  2. Remove the Wheel: Using the appropriate tools, remove the wheel from the vehicle. Place the wheel on the tire changer.

  3. Deflate the Tire: Remove the valve core to deflate the tire completely. Use a valve core removal tool for this step.

  4. Break the Bead: Position the bead breaker tool against the tire sidewall and activate the breaker to separate the tire bead from the rim. Repeat this process on both sides of the tire.

  5. Position the Wheel on the Turntable: Secure the wheel on the turntable by clamping it in place. Ensure it is centered and stable.

  6. Lubricate the Tire Bead: Apply tire lubricant to the tire bead to facilitate easier removal and installation.

  7. Remove the Tire: Use the mounting/demounting tool to lift the tire bead over the rim. Rotate the turntable to remove the tire from the rim.

  8. Inspect the Rim and Tire: Check both the rim and the tire for any damage or debris. Clean them if necessary.

  9. Install the New Tire: Position the new tire on the rim. Use the mounting/demounting tool to guide the tire bead onto the rim. Rotate the turntable to seat the tire properly.

  10. Inflate the Tire: Reinstall the valve core and inflate the tire to the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

  11. Balance the Wheel: Mount the wheel on a balancing machine to ensure it is balanced correctly. Add weights if necessary.

  12. Reinstall the Wheel: Place the balanced wheel back on the vehicle. Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.

  13. Lower the Vehicle: Carefully lower the vehicle from the lift. Double-check that all lug nuts are secure before driving.

By following these steps, you can efficiently and safely change a tire using the Hunter tire changer.
